The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force on May 25th 2018, aims to protect the fundamental right to privacy and the protection of personal data of European Union (EU) citizens.
Transparency and communication with website visitors are key elements of the GDPR.
As part of the new regulation, I must let site visitors know how I collect, store, and use their data, in a clear and transparent way. In addition, I must comply with any site visitors' requests to receive a copy of their data that is processed on this site.
This policy describes how I may collect and use personal information, and the rights and choices available to any visitors and users of the ‘love and alter-globalisation’ website regarding such information.
What information does this site collect?
I receive, collect and store any information you enter on this website or provide me with in any other way. I do not collect any other information without your knowledge.
Why do I collect such personal information?
I collect such Personal Information to create a database of contacts for communicating and sharing updates and news relating to the ‘love and alter-globalisation’ research project. Furthermore the ideas discussed in the group forum will be used to establish themes for further exploration as part of this research. All electronic data (in the form of anonymised transcribed discussions) will be coded and stored on an encrypted and password protected laptop belonging to the researcher, and simultaneously uploaded to the University College Cork ‘Research Box’ information storage system. Upon research completion all data will be removed completely from the laptop and will continue to be stored securely on the UCC Research Box for a minimum of 10 years and then permanently deleted.
How do I collect personal information?
When you send a message through the ‘love and alter-globalisation’ contact form, join the group forum, or sign up for the mailing list, as part of the process the website collects personal information you give me such as your name and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.
